What does the Certificate mean? Bob Stoloff's Vocal Jazz Academy graduates of both Levels 1 and 2 will receive a certificate of achievement verifying the successful completion of 100 hours of musicianship skill training in the following curriculum:
- Solo & Group Improvisation
- Scat Singing & Instru-Vocal Articulation
- Solo & Ensemble Performance
- Rhythm Section Arranging
- Rhythmic & Melodic Ear training
- Estill Voice Training (Stefania Patene)
- Fundamentals of Jazz Harmony (Angelo Schiavi)
Graduates of Level Two will be able to:
Articulate complex 16th note rhythmic patterns including duple and triple figures with rest equivalents using a variety of instru-vocal brass, bass and percussion syllables,
Execute embellished melodic patterns using scalar and arpeggiated configurations over diminished, half-diminished, augmented and altered dominant chords using both traditional and original scat syllables,
Improvise solos over challenging harmonic chord progressions using phraseology techniques including motivic modulation, contrary motion, rhythmic displacement and other compositional devices,
Execute embellished melodic patterns using scalar and arpeggiated configurations over diminished, half-diminished, augmented and altered dominant chords using both traditional and original scat syllables,

Express elaborate and cohesive ideas in a variety of jazz, Latin and contemporary music idioms using both traditional odd meters,
Interface with other singers and instrumentalists in various ensemble formats including Creative Vocal Ensemble, a cappella improvisation and lead vocal with rhythm section initiatives,

Navigate transcribed solos recorded and performed by a collection vocal and instrumental artists including Bob Stoloff, Chet Baker, Miles Davis, Bob Mintzer, Jim Snidero, Jake Hannah and Paul Chambers,
Compose comprehensive lead sheet arrangements for voice with rhythm section accompaniment, complete with cues, intros, endings, time feels, comping patterns and an in-depth approach to rehearsal techniques.
