What does the Certificate mean?
Bob Stoloff's Vocal Jazz Academy: Portland graduates will receive a certificate of achievement verifying the successful completion of 100 hours of musicianship skill training in the following curriculum:

· Solo & Group Improvisation

· Scat Singing & Instru-Vocal Articulation

· Solo & Ensemble Performance

· Rhythmic & Melodic Ear Training

· Fundamentals of Jazz Harmony and Theory

Graduates of Vocal Jazz Academy: Spain will be able to successfully:

Articulate rhythmic patterns stylistically designed with syncopated duple and triple figures and rest equivalents,

Execute melodic patterns, configurations, scales and related arpeggios in major, minor, pentatonic, dominant and blues tonalities using scat syllables and instru-vocabulary,  

Navigate fundamental harmonic chord progressions using primary color tone resolution, extensions, root motion, line contour, chord scales and vocal bass lines.

Improvise solos using rhythmic and melodic phraseology techniques including motivic development, thematic call-response, trading riffs, conversational rapport and storyteller expression, 

Express cohesive ideas in a variety of jazz, Latin and contemporary music idioms,

Interface with other singers and instrumentalists in various ensemble formats including creative vocal ensemble, a cappella initiatives, lead vocal with rhythm section accompaniment and background vocal initiatives.
